India is a country of different cultures. Its greatness consists of diversity, great history and colourful culture. Its vibrant culture symbolizes different clothing, festivals, languages, religions, music, dance, architecture, food and art. Among all festivals Ganesh Chturthi as basically a celebration of 10 days .it is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi.

As per Hindi calendar, it occurs on month of Bhadra which generally falls in mid august to September .it is refers as birthday of lord Ganesha, son of Lord Shiva and Maa  Parbati. Lord Ganesha is known as god of knowledge, prosperity and wisdom.

Lord Ganesha also known as Ganapati Bappa is worshipped first at the beginning of any program and widely regarded as remover of obstacles and challenges. Hindus believes that having his blessings , they can overcome all hurdles and provide great strength and wisdom in life. Gajanana, Vinayaka, Ganapati,Vighnaharta are others names of this idol .He is the younger son of Lord Shiva and maa Parbati.

According to history this festival has been celebrated since time of king shivaji. This festival is celebrated in all organizations including offices, homes, schools, colleges, universities, temples etc. Apart from India it is also celebrated across the world.

The preparation for this festival begins a month earlier. For which clay crafted idols are worshiped in pendals and also at homes. Especially puja pendals are decorated as beautiful dulhans for this occasion. Fresh and artificial flowers, lights, colour papers, therm cols etc are commonly used for the decoration. Also some innovative idea such as recycled plastics, coins, woods , papers are also used for this purpose.

The main rituals during this pujas are Pranapratishtha,Shhodashapachara,Uttarpuja and Ganapati  Visharjan .a special type of sweet called “modak” is presented to the idol as” bhog”. These 10 days long celebration vibe gives us a divine and holy vibe.
